Recent research conducted in New York showed that bed early will protect adolescents from depression and suicidal thoughts.

Risk of depression

Adolescents who reported they were "enough sleep" 65% less likely to experience depression.
Depression and suicidal thinking is more common in girls, teenage parents, or those who have low self-perception.
Most parents in the study had set a deadline to bed at around 22:00 or earlier.
On average, the teens slept seven hours 53 minutes each evening-less than nine hours of recommendations for children their age.
